Every year thousands of our kids die when their heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating. Known as Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA), this syndrome can happen without symptoms or warning signs.
It’s not a heart attack. SCA is an abnormality in the heart’s electrical system that can be detected with a simple Electrocardiogram, or “EKG.” But EKGs are NOT a part of your teen’s annual well-child or pre-participation sports physical. And athletes are at higher risk for SCA. The Peyton Walker Foundation and a medical team of cardiologists & health professionals from UPMC Pinnacle will perform non-invasive EKG screenings—no needles or x-ray exposure. The process takes about 30 minutes.
Here’s how you get your FREE EKG screening. Appointments are required.
1) Go to:
Direct link to registration: http://www.peytonwalker.org/registernewport.html
2) Register your student to attend the screening.
No insurance information or copays are collected. This screening is free.
The Peyton Walker Foundation has screened over 1,700 students in the Central Pennsylvania area. They have identified potentially life-threatening heart issues at each of their previous screenings. Several students have required life-saving corrective surgeries as a result of a condition that was diagnosed during a screening.
About Peyton Walker Peyton was a 2012 graduate of Trinity High School. She was attending King’s College and was studying to be a physician assistant. Sudden Cardiac Arrest stole her young, vibrant life at the age of 19. The mission of The Peyton Walker Foundation is to increase awareness and survival rates of Sudden Cardiac Arrest. We accomplish this through free heart screenings, scholarships for students pursuing degrees in healthcare, donating AEDs throughout the community, and providing free AED & CPR training. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Please check out our athletic schedules online!
Susquenita School District is a member of the Tri-Valley Athletic Association and District III of the PIAA. Many opportunities present themselves for athletic participation by the student body. Each student is urged to take part in some phase of the athletic program. Sportsmanship and character development are stressed over winning, although we always try to win fairly. Every member of each team should consider it an honor to represent SSD in athletic contests and must accept the responsibility of conducting himself/herself according to the strictest rule of training and sportsmanship.
The interscholastic program at SSD consists of the following sports: football, wrestling, boys' and girls' basketball, boys' and girls' track & field, boys' and girls' cross country, baseball, boys' and girls' soccer, field hockey, softball, boys' and girls' tennis, and cheerleading.
