Kent R. Smith, Superintendent
Superintendent Smith is an accomplished administrator currently in his 40th year as an educator. He began his career as an elementary and special education teacher where he taught both regular education and special education classes grades 2-8. Mr. Smith also coached the varsity diving team during his time with Norristown School District.
After leaving Norristown, Superintendent Smith spent the next 23 years in administration at both Lakeview and Conneaut School Districts. There he served in a variety of positions including Principal, Special Education Supervisor, Director of Curriculum, Director of Federal Programs and Acting Assistant Superintendent.
This is Mr. Smith’s 8th year as Superintendent at Susquenita. During this time, he has fostered a team approach resulting in academic growth across the District. Additionally, Susquenita High School has been recognized twice with the Apple Distinguished Program Award. This is significant given the District’s rapid growth and success in technology utilization. Superintendent Smith attributes this success to the fantastic staff he has the privilege of working with. Teamwork is key!
Superintendent Smith was born and raised in Shillington, a suburb of Reading, and resides in Marysville, with Dawn, his wife of over thirty years. Together, they have three children and three grandchildren
In his spare time, Superintendent Smith likes to golf, swim, spend time with family and work on home improvement projects.
Mr. Smith has announced his intent to retire at the end of the 2020-2021 academic year.
