Kent R. Smith, Superintendent
Superintendent Smith is an accomplished administrator with more than 35 years in education. He began his career as an elementary and special education teacher at Norristown School District, where he taught emotional support and support classes, third to ninth grades. He also coached the swimming and diving team.
After leaving Norristown School District, Superintendent Smith spent the next 23 years in administration at both Lakeview and Conneaut School Districts. There he served in a variety of positions including Principal, Special Education Supervisor, Director of Curriculum, Director of Federal Programs and Acting Assistant.
During his past 7 years at Susquenita he has fostered a team approach resulting in academic growth across the District. Additionally, Susquenita High School has been recognized twice with the Apple Distinguished Program Award. This is significant given the District’s rapid growth and success in technology utilization over the course of the past 7 years. Superintendent Smith attributes this success to the fantastic staff he has the privilege of working with. Teamwork is key!
Superintendent Smith was born and raised in Shillington, a suburb of Reading, and resides in Marysville, with Dawn, his wife of over thirty years. Together, they have three children and three grandchildren
In his spare time, Superintendent Smith likes to golf, swim, spend time with family and work on home improvement projects.
