Canvas is a learning management system (LMS) that is used to support our 1:1 iPad initiative. It is synced with PowerSchool so students are automatically enrolled in each of their courses. Canvas is used by our teachers as a way to share course work, due dates and other communications with students. Some teachers use it to have students turn in assignments and grade student work. Remember, PowerSchool will still have the most current grade and attendance information for your child.
Parents may create an observer account in order to be able to view their student(s) Canvas. An observer account is view-only. Here are some helpful tips:
- Before a parent/guardian creates an observer account, they must first obtain a paring code for each child they wish to observe. The paring code can be obtained from the student or the student's teacher, using a web browser. The paring code is not found in the Canvas app.
- Observer accounts cannot be created on a mobile device. They can only be created from a PC/Mac web browser.
- Step-by-step instructions on how to create an observer account can be found at How do I sign up for a Canvas account as a parent?
Once you have your student(s) paring code(s), visit Canvas and click the top right link that says "Parent of a Canvas User? Click Here for an Account" to begin the sign-up process.
